The Mandate of the Fort Malden Guild of Arts and Crafts Board is to "encourage and foster cultural development in the fields of fine arts and applied arts and crafts in the southwestern area of Essex County and in the Town of Amherstburg in particular". We educate visitors, members, exhibitors and the community on the history of our building and actively promote an appreciation for visual arts and craft. To accomplish this we provide the following:
A full season of exhibits in our Gallery and Exhibit space. Exhibits are sought from local artists and artisans and from travelling art and cultural exhibits (ie. Royal Ontario Museum). Admission is free unless otherwise stated.
Partnerships with other groups to encourage participation in the arts. (ie Greater Essex County District Board of Education, Ontario Art Council, ACWR, AMG, AGW, etc)
Preservation and maintenance of our "designated historic site", the Michigan Central railroad Station, c.1896. and the attached Caboose Museum which provides an exhibit of the history of the Railroad in Amherstburg and Southern Ontario.
